KIDS SCOOTER MADE FROM RECYCLED OCEAN PLASTIC

Around 10 percent of the plastic waste in the oceans comes from fishing. Every year an estimated 640,000 tonnes of nets and other equipment are left in the waters. Part of this waste, which is collected in landfills and then recycled, is used to make our sustainable Micro kids scooters.  

The footplate and brake of the Micro Mini Deluxe ECO LED are made from recycled fishing nets and other plastic waste that would have ended up in the sea sooner or later. Furthermore, the product has the same features as the popular Micro Mini Deluxe: the patented steering system by shifting weight promotes balance and motor skills, the handlebar can be optimally adjusted to the size of the child and the non-slip silicone footplate ensures support and safety on the scooter.

1. What is an Eco Scooter?

Our Mini Micro Deluxe Eco Scooter, is green by design. We have incorporated recycled maritime plastics into the deck and the brake of the scooter. 2. What is the recycled plastic made from?

We take waste from the maritime industry, clean it, crush it, dry it, melt it and pour it to make our decks and brakes greener. Specifically, the waste that is discarded and obsolete such as ropes, trawls that have been used all over the world. This is the first exciting step in developing a more sustainable scooter. We recognise the potential of recycled plastics instead of producing new ones.

3. Does the Mini Micro Deluxe ECO differ in quality due to use of the recycled plastic?

No, our recycled plastic used for the deck and brake of the Mini Micro Deluxe ECO is as durable as our regular plastic. It has the same strength properties and meets the same safety standards.

4. What about the packaging? Is it also sustainable?

With our ECO products we have taken special care to ensure the packaging is as environmentally friendly as possible, we use FSC-certified paper for the packaging and have reduced the amount of plastic inside the box to a minimum. The scooter is not in a plastic bag, only the handlebars are wrapped in brown paper to protect them from damage. The user manual is also FSC certified and is packed in a plastic bag made of biodegradable material.
